Read Alex Turns First Pageš

Launched on 15 July 2023 with the main objective of introducing the Children of Alexandra into the habit of reading.
For the past five weeks, the team embarked on a mission to collect books, suitable for children of all ages. It is with great excitement that Read Alex officially turns the first page of phase one of the program by introducing the Reading Corner.
Currently, Run Alex AC Juniors have athletics training every Saturday and Sunday from 07H00 to 08H00. The introduction of the reading corner will see the Juniors, between the ages of 8 and 16 years, spend an additional compulsory hour from 08H00 to 09H00 as from Saturday, 26 August 2023, reading a book or playing a mind-stimulating game.
This is the first step of introducing children into the habit of reading.

In 2020, when the world went into lockdown, schools were closed to try and curb the spread of Covid19. When other children continued with their online classes in the comfort of their homes, Alex children had no other options but to take to the streets and play.
We are excited to launch Read Alex, a program that will give the kids in our community a chance to enhance their learning. The program aims to instill a culture of reading. It will be a fun, safe space for the kids. We hope it inspires them to read more, dream bigger
